Well It's a Secret - But Not Really!

Due to past disappointments Milli's owner has decided not to post on Social media just yet, but Milli is now 39 days pregnant. A positive scan has shown at least three babies with strong heartbeats. At the previous scan puppies where present at 28 days but had been reabsorbed by 35 days. Therefore the decision was made to wait and scan her a little later. Numbers are hard to determine with scans so there could be more, but considering the difficulties this young lady has had conceiving her owner is delighted with the outcome so far!
One of the problems with Milli is that she is cycling too frequently,(Every 3 months) therefore ...   "her uterus is not fully returning to a normal stage, making it a hostile environment for embryos, leading to early embryonic death." The uterus requires at least 90 days to return to "normal" (anestrus) Taking on board that after the season the female’s metabolism are preparing for pregnancy, whether she is pregnant or not. This persists for about 60 days, a period when those of us living with bitches will often see a drastic change in their behaviour. Mine are quieter, better behaved and usually very affectionate. This is also the period where eating problems can become apparent. Jezi and Sammi are both about 28 days after the mid of their season now (when they would have been mated) Jezi has not eaten dog food for 2 days - but thanks Bwtri (my work place) for the sausage rolls - and Sammi is a sweetheart - both out of character!
Here's hoping now that the rest of the pregnancy and birth goes well for Milli. I guess none of us will be able to relax for a few weeks yet!

Here are Milli's scans, I'm no expert, but yeah I can make out the baby blobs safe in their fluid bags!!!
