Shon and his family came over yesterday to meet the girls. They seemed over the moon with both Holly and Ivy and just couldn't choose, so they delegated Shon to make the choice. An important decision but with both like peas in a pod, not an easy one. Still a choice had to be made and Shon eventually opted for our precious Ivy.... Because? well simply he liked her name. Bless him, such a hard choice and almost like drawing straws.
Ivy will be the only bitch spending her life in this area ... over the water in Anglesey!
....but today poor baby Ziva fell ill. She was fine on her walk between 2 and 3pm and then seemed OK as she just lay around the house after her walk. But around 4.15pm she went and stood by the door and started to shake. I was immediately suspicious, when you live with them you just know don't you. I took her temperature and found it a little high. Alarm bells started to ring, I'd been here before in 2000 with Seffe, so I rang the vet and told him of my suspicions and he agreed I should take her straight over. By the time we got there she was very lethargic and had started vomiting. Poor Ziva she got so ill so quickly.
As I had thought the vet diagnosed Mastitis, he gave her antibiotics and diuretic injections as well as a glucose and calcium injection into the vein. She was so flat she just lay on the table allowing the vet to just get on with it .... bless her she's easy at the best of times, but there was no resistance in her at all.
Thankfully as quickly as it came on, she improved. But following vets instructions it will be hard to keep her away from her beloved pups for 2 -3 days! I can see it being a very restless stressful night.
Update - Ziva just tried to steal my cake! But the vet said a light meal at bed time .. cake was never on the menu!!
Only a phone photo, but thought the day should be noted.
With the pups being less demanding on her, Ziva had started to become quite bored and desperately needed to get out and about again. She loved her first walk back out with Mummy Asha, Granny Tali and her best mate Mikey.
.....Meanwhile back in the cottage, Nick and Ivy plotted the great escape and ran riot around the kitchen .. exhausted after their expedition they both crashed and were discovered fast asleep in the middle of the kitchen floor!!!

After a phoned call this afternoon, I received an e.mail tonight to confirm that the last pup is now reserved. I'm so pleased with all the homes I have lined up for these kids, it's great to be able to be even more fussy than ever, I've had so many calls it's been unbelievable. I swear to date I could have sold 8 males, and that's to good homes without consideration to the ones I consider unsuitable. (And the calls/e.mails are still coming in)
Loving The Toys
This evening I was siting with them in the whelping box, some where playing, one was cuddling, one was sleeping, I just started to cry. I was overwhelmed with emotion, new life, so precious, so innocent, and so so loved. Sometimes I think I'm a crap breeder, it just hurts so much to let them go.
Big Nick loving his new toy
I'm not helping myself really, I'm finding myself quite smitten with one puppy. Is it the right puppy? Hell I don't know, she's just catching my eye and she's so damn cuddly she makes me think of Louis. No I'm not giving the game away, when the time comes I will try and make the decision with my head, the right decision for the future of "Blanik."
