Fading And Sable

A couple of photo of sisters from my K litter showing dramatic differences in colour. Both have a rich tan, but Isla is a red tan and Jazz is more ginger. Isla has kept her saddle like Sammi and Ziva, but Jazz has a fading saddle. Though Asha was faded she was also a poor colour so doesn't compare, but go back into further generations and three of my bitches in this line were close to this colour. Tali, Krizzie and Seffe were this ginger colour with fading saddles. I would imagine as Jazz gets older she will fade further, but with that rich ginger colour faded bitches look very impressive. Faded bitches should never be confused with sables, though Audrey insisted Krizzie was sable and wouldn't hear otherwise, faded and sables are very different. Sable offspring have to have a sable parent (Or white as it masks sable) and if there is any confusion then looking at photos of them as puppies will soon set the record straight.
The top photos are of Krizzie, at 6 months and dramatically out of coat at 6 years, but it shows exactly how much she faded over the years. In coat she was just stunning, ginger, faded and stunning.
The bottom 2 photos show the obvious difference of the brown clown as a puppy and an adult.  Funnily, Audrey would not have it that Ross was sable either, someone had told her he was brown ... and brown clown has stuck with him ever since!
I've no idea how Siska will end up, but I doubt she will fade much further, though of course we can never predict, fading is not exclusively a bitch thing, but it's highly more likely to happen to any degree in bitches than dogs, I wonder why?
