After the most horrendously windy 24hrs I'm glad to hear the wind is finally dropping a tad. The cats have all been cuddling indoors, they do love the warmth. For safety sake none of us have set foot beyond the yard till about an hour ago when Steve went the furthest he's been in 5 days and made it to the gate to check the mail. He came back and explained how luck our vehicles and the caravan have been as the base to next doors shed has made it half way here. It's in our field but gladly the dip by the top gate has stopped it coming further. The force of the wind has been so fierce that our dog food shed is rocking and the benches are like rocking chairs. I really think it's time it blows itself out now .. I'm bored with you now Mr Wind!

Cold Out There

... But Ziva still had her ice bath! Just seeing her lie in the frozen water made feel cold to my bones.

Apparently mum phoned whilst I was out and when she was told I was walking she said .. "I hope she's got a hat on!" Yeah not just a hat but also a hood over it. With temperatures touching  -8 here several nights the last week I think it's been the coldest spell in years, it's even cold in the cottage, and I've not said that in the last couple of years!

This photo took ages to get - Miss Parker just wanted to be off and had to be put back several times, hence Loki's ears are at half mast. Still we got it.

No idea what he's done, here's hoping something and nothing!

Whilst we where at A&E on Friday morning (Don't ask!) I had a call which I ignored followed by a text telling me "Our bitch is ready for mating can we come to Nico today?" Errr no! But I wasn't being difficult it was impossible. So yesterday I was fluttering about from here to there when my mobile rang again ... same people, but I was driving and couldn't answer. You know it then pissed me off a touch, I hadn't even been informed that the bitch was in season, just told that she was "ready." Well in my book that's bad manners, I have always informed stud dog owners of every step of my bitches season. People have lives and are not sitting at home waiting for their dogs to get a jump! Sorry. Anyway with Nico lame today I decided to text back and say Nico was not available for stud right now and should they want to try next time the bitch was in season then they should let me know as soon as she comes in season. They may go elsewhere, they may not, so cutting my nose to spite my face maybe? Ah well that's life!!!

4 Months Weights And Measures

Two days early but I had to pop to Pets At home for Tali's food
so took advantage and took Kaiah along for the ride and popped her on the scales. 

 On the way back we stopped for a soggy walk in Rhostryfan.

17kg and 49cm at the wither. Yep I'm happy with that

Sammi was 18.40kg and 50cms.

I have noticed that she is leaner than her mum was at the same age, but height wise, well there's nothing in it is there. Her colour is dramatically different with a lot of the silver ticking already breaking through her new coat. With her red tan I think she will be quite impressive looking!

Coldest Day Of The Winter?

Bloody Westies

As beautiful as the day was yesterday the walks where not so perfect. I'm not too great myself at the moment and I was just back from the doctors so Steve decided to come with me to Llyn Cop. We would take the short path cross country and straight to the edge of the lake, and then back the same way so Kaiah could come with us.
As soon as we were parked up and where on the move things started to go wrong,

the Westies from the cottages across the common came charging towards us. I wanted to get our dogs away quickly (All three were already off the lead) and I increased my pace. Sadly one of us took a nasty fall and the other couldn't get them to their feet. Our dogs did not help by bouncing all over the place and the Westies who had stopped at their usual distance away where now coming closer. Now only a stones throw away from us and on the path, (but sadly I couldn't find a stone) I was worried about Kaiah. As yet she has not had many negative experiences with other dogs and I didn't want it to start now! It was every man for himself and I moved to the further path and took the dogs out of harms way. The little shits continued to follow for a short while barking and snapping behind us.

Imagine the uproar if my dogs where allowed to go charging across and behave so threateningly towards people walking their dogs .. imagine the uproar if one of my adults had take offence yesterday and retaliated. I can well imagine if they had got near the pup Sammi and Loki would have well sprung into action and then who would be to blame? The cuddle little Westie? Surely not, it had to be the GSD's to blame. Of course to add insult to injury one of us is in a lot of pain today, one of us probably won't be able to do jack shit for days now!

I'm so amused. I know I moan that they get everywhere up here but this one is really taking the piss. Photobombing at it's best .. can you see it? I didn't till I looked at the photo on the laptop .

And the only one I got before the little person vanished. 

I had been thinking Kaiah was smaller and finer than Sammi was at the same age, now I'm not so sure as she's growing like a weed again. From 4 months I have records and I'm looking forward to comparing her growth rate with her female ancestors. 

We stripped out the van this afternoon, took the cages out and scrubbed it out. The kids had a great time racing around the property, and god knows how Loki came back so filthy! Seriously I think the van washing may have been a pointless exercise as it'll no doubt be full of mud again by the end of the week. Well who cares! That's why we have the van, it's a dog van .. the car is always there for when we need it. 

That yellow van takes us everywhere. It adds to our quality of life. Can you see it? Lets's face it it's not easy to miss and I could never deny it if I'd been seen anywhere could I! I loved the white van too. With it I gained experience and trust in my driving abilities, and to be fair it was a far better looking van. No scratches or bumps, or cigarette burns in the seats, but it was sadly fair less reliable than this one. As an ex Police vehicle this one "has lived" and shows the scares of life, but touch wood it never lets me down!

All Walked

Though the camera stayed in the bag today. It was bitterly cold with a very strong breeze and some rain carrying in that breeze. I feel short walks are often not enough but if the kids have been off the property they seem to settle far better than after a run in the fields. To be honest I often need the walks myself and sometimes the weather is of very little importance.
