Another wonderful day with lovely dogs and a great bunch of friends.

Such a shame Mikey was the joker in the pack today and lost his class because the judge couldn't asses his movement. Was kind of hard for her as he spent most of his time doing impersonations of zebedee!!!

OPEN (7,2): 1st. Stanley’s BLANIK GEORGIOS. A judge can always pick holes in any dog but I strongly believe it is the whole animal that is being judged. So, yes I would have liked a tad more length for perfection, a bit tighter in front feet would have been nice and just a fraction less steep in croup. That said, what a super dog. Great head, so masculine. Superb, depth of chest, ribbed well back and very strong in loin. Superb front assemble. So strong throughout I couldn’t get over the feeling that this dog really could go all day and still be ready for more. BOB and a strong contender in the BIS ring.

Mixed Feelings

Last night we went to Ring Craft. Having been a member of this club for over 25 years it's hard to see thing there the way they are now. The place use to be heaving, lots of dogs and handlers and a happy relaxed atmosphere.Where have all the good guys gone eh? Oh don't get me wrong some of them are still there fighting the corner, but it seems many have found alternatives! The membership has dwindled to a handful and it was sad to hear of the clique that now rules the roost. 

I didn't expect to be greeted with open arms, (though others were) a hello would have been great but to be totally ignored was in my opinion uncalled for and actually quite hurtful. What have I done to justify this? Well hand on heart, I've no idea! Peoples lives move on and I stopped going (haven't been in a year) Was that enough cause for the cold shoulder? 

So where does this leave me? Well hell, I don't want to go back, and like most of my friends have discovered, there are alternatives!

On a good note, Sammi loved it there and met her first real boyfriend. At 6 months old he was quite the older man, but she was smitten with her Welsh Terrier boyfriend! We tried endlessly to get a decent picture, but when your puppy is like a kangaroo on the end of the lead, it's really quite difficult. Yes I could be hard on her ... but what is the point in that? I love her outgoing, confident OTT character. I love who she is and the "stand" will come with time! Anyway with the last click of the camera we got this, not perfect, but not too bad me thinks!!!!

Kai 31/7/05 - 19/3/12

This year It's not really a sad day, it's a day to celebrate his life, a day to remember with love the huge presence that was Kaiser Vom Conbhairean! Those people who have just bought puppies from me will be lucky enough to have him in their pedigrees, but they did not have the privilege of "knowing" him. Therefore I would like to tell you just a little about him.

Kaiser, or Kai to his friends came into our lives as adult early in 2008, he was a huge dog in every way. Not only did he stand at 69cm at the wither but he also had the personality to match! He was a fun loving dog with a huge coat who stood upright and proud, he oozed self confidence and feared nothing. Kai was never the cause of any trouble here, but by his sheer presence the other males feared him. He was playful with the girls and wonderful with his children, having a strong bond with both his daughters Asha and Maya.

Kai was mostly very obedient, got on with the cats and would "leave" the sheep alone on his walks. Though we did show him, his size often went against him, I guess it was never possible to hide those extra cms. (Maximum size for a male is 65cm) Though some judges did admire him and he did have several BOB, we realised he would never be a top winner and when his children started stealing the limelight we showed him sparingly.

Kai was without doubt the cleverest male  I have ever owned, he was strong willed and very vocal; but with me he was willing to please and was cuddly and affectionate. I always knew that should a situation ever arise my life I would be safe in his hands ... I knew he would give me his all.

Without doubt one of the best decisions ever made was to bring a Conbhairean dog to Blanik. Their principals and ethical breeding shine through in their dogs and their bloodlines have proved to improve on ours.

RIP my beautiful big dog, you gave us so much, we will never forget you. I said it then and I still say it now,  Kaiser, you were one "awesome" dog!
