Remember This Guy

"An unpublished photo of Uran Wildsteigerland, natural pose, an ideal ratio between chest height and limb length is very important in the German Shepherd. A male that measures 65 cm at the wither will have a chest of about 30 cm."
This dog along with his half brother, Quando von Arminius have influenced the breed beyond compare. He was the Sieger twice in the 1980ies  and I doubt you'll find many a pedigree without multiple lines to him and his dam Palme through both males. Quando was also the German Sieger twice. Uran was Nikki's grandfather and Quando was Arko Vom Huhnerab's sire, so yes I doubled up on that Palme line in early days. What a female she must have been to produce these half brothers!
I agree the breed has changed since the 80ies, and maybe not necessarily for the better in all counts, but with the German SV as well as the KC encouraging breeders to improve the breed by producing more moderate animals hopefully we'll soon be back on track ...
