Sisco At Home

Stolen off Facebook
Sisco (Sire of the pups) in the middle - Handsome Hunk!

Oh Fudge

You melt my heart ...

Sammi confiscated this toy though, I guess she felt it was not suitable for her kids!!!!!

The Sheep War

Steve was out in the yard at the right time and saw the sheep coming in. Where the fence joined the post (Where the pallet is now) the fencing has come off the post. The sheep were pushing through like it was a door and it closed behind them so they could nt get out the same way. Had Steve not seen them we would never ever have found it. Round one to us but round two to them probably ...
I spent part of the afternoon clearing the field of sheep shit. Valuable lesson learned today, Consider the wind directions when hurling shovels of shit back into the farmers fields. #facefullofsheepshit. Job had to be done though as someone, not naming anyone but a black faced male ate so much shit yesterday that he threw up a huge green stain on a grey carpet! yeuk.

The World Just Got Bigger

Puppy Pen number one, you may recall I got three so I can make it bigger as they grow.
Now all I need is the toys
Lots of space for little people.

It Doesn't Always Work

Thank god for amazon - Zooplus you let me down
Five dogs - "Stand - Wait" Throw toy. Hmmm naughty Asha!
Too old for a telling off though eh!

Two Weeks

They've all had their nails cut and were weighed. Basil has almost caught up with Ken. He was the smallest male and I was initially concerned about him as he was so small, thankfully he's looking great now. Chilli is the biggest of the bitches with Winnie still small but now doing very well. Beth and Ginger are a little behind but were smaller at birth so I guess they are keeping up. Though some are smaller generally now they are close to Asha's nine at the same age. They are so content and  peaceful, well mostly, at 2am and 4am there was a riot in the box! Actually it's great to see them becoming aware of each other and there are some early play moves now.
I'm obviously still sleeping in the kitchen on the camp bed, or trying too. I'm there to serve Sammi so she can care for her family. If I'm lucky I get 4 hours of broken sleep over night, but it usually between 3 and 4hrs. Sammi has a meal around 2am and a wee and drink around 4 am. Steve gets up around 6.30am and I get to bed around 7am for about 3 hours. I then just grab a kip here and there during the day when the opportunity arises, but it's all so worth it!

Colours

I've never had to do this before but felt this time I needed to. I can identify them by picking them up and looking but with all the white feet now nearly gone it's getting harder to tell them apart, especially some of the bitches. At least now everyone will know who is who!

Beige - Biscuit
Blue -Fudge
Green - Ken
Red - Basil
Yellow - Beth
Lime - Ginger
White - Chilli
Brown - Spice
Purple - Winnie

Eat It Or Wear It?

 Steve's team - no comment!
Is it all for me?

Some Answers Re. Selling

Still the continued requests for puppies come in. I really thought it would be a horrendous time to sell, but I guess people are carrying on as normal in that respect. ALPHA who deal with directives for DEFRA have responded with some sensible news. (Attached) Of course common sense will have to prevail and as we discussed previously with visits from the neighbours the pups will have to be put in a pen in the field for prospective owners to view. Sadly they will not be able to see all the litter, or the other dogs, just the puppy they are buying or if they have a choice just the ones they will be choosing from. Not only will they be missing out on meeting everyone but the pups will be missing out on visitors too. Such a sad state of affairs really, but needs must. I can only think of e.mailing contracts to be signed, the owners will have to print them off, sign them keep a copy and email me back a scan or photo of the signed contract for my records. Puppy packs, pedigrees and registrations will have to be given in a sealed folder .. prospective puppy owners will have to bring their own hand sanitizers with them, use them on arrival and before leaving. I will not be able to provide them with refreshments ... and they'll have to stop for a wee in Tesco ... lol
Unlike kennel puppies, at least these pups will have seen all I can show them. They will see the TV, hear the hoover and the washing machine, meet the cats, run free in the fields and learn about crate training. I  don't know about health tests and microchips - that I will have to look into further. Again I've never sold a puppy without a health check so that concerns me and if it comes to that then it'll have to be fully discussed with the owners at length. Hopefully we can sort something with the vets - but I will not be risking early vaccinations again and strongly advising owners to do their own research rather than just vaccinating as part of the course. Really L4 should never be given .. please research and read.
Today we are going to start introducing some food, well a mixture of mashed puppy food and Goats yogurt on a finger tip .. watch for possibly a messy update!

Fascination With Feet

Isn't it just amazing how quickly the white is fading. The large photo was taken today at 13 days old with the top small photo taken only 4 days ago. The first photo taken of course at just 24 hrs old.
Another week and I guess we'll have no white toes.
