Steve and I have been messing with the van. Knowing what I know now I would have planned those crates a lot better to allow for more storage. But three vans on and they are not ready to be replaced so Bob the builder and his assistant (Me) had a go at making a shelf above Loki's side of the van.
This is a photo from July 2019 when we put the crates in. You can see there is a storage space above the double crate, but it's long and narrow and getting the trolley in was always a bit tricky. After putting the crates in we split the middle area and put the side doors on. But really so much space is wasted and we are always struggling for space for bags and bottles ... so as long as the dogs could stand/sit up then making a shelf on one of the side crates seemed the obvious answer. We can't do it on the other side or we won't get the large collapsable crate in, and that is needed in these outdoor venues.
Yeah I'm pleased with that!
