by Tali's critique from WKC Champ show in August! I should consider myself lucky, a lot of his critiques are rather harsh so I guess being called a Grandmother is no insult to her!!
VB (2) 1 Stanley’s Blanik Frankie, nice grandmother of excellent type. Lovely outline & in great condition; 2 Finnigan’s Cerystar Lotti vom Kotikaana, also this is a quality veteran of good type. I did however, prefer the presence & the neck on the winner.

Our Enya!

For those of you who may not know her - She is Ziva and Jezi's sister. 

A sweet gentle girl who is and always was as bright as a button. 

She was the most gentle kind baby ever

So pleased that she's grown into such a stunning young lady.

As I left for the show yesterday morning I had a huge lump in my throat. Tali was standing there with her ball in her mouth ready for the off. It's so hard to explain to them that it'a not "your day," and with the van full there wasn't even the option to take her just for the "day out!"
On the day I always regret taking three ... it all seems such a good idea when I'm filling up my entry forms, I forget about the chaos that will surely follow! To be fair without the back up of friends I could never do it, I owe a small group of people so much!
Jezi surprised us all yesterday by having a strop as she was being taken away from me. Jezi has always been easy to leave with anyone, but now I guess maybe she likes me more than she use too! Anyway glad to see that she and Linda both came out of it alive!!!!! lol ... sorry Lin!

I was handling Sammi and again she stood alone in Junior. She behaved very well in the ring, as she always does. Mark handled Jezi to win PG and Asha to win Open ... let the chaos begin! To be fair, apart from a small strop from Asha it all went well. Asha stayed with Mark, I took Jezi and Tracy kindly came in with Sammi. The judge was kind enough to move them individually and allowed me to also move Sammi. It would have been great for any of the girls to win, but I guess Sammi winning was a bit of Icing on the cake really. After all that is the name of the game, improving and hoping that each generation is slightly better and capable of taking over from the older ones. Hand on heart I believe Sammi has the potential to be the best bitch ever bred at "Blanik!"

As soon as we finished at the show we had to run off to the vets with Ziva. The swelling on her leg was again huge. The vet drained it off again, OMG the stuff that came out of it. This time she has left a small opening for us to wash and drain any remaining fluid. In principal that sounds great, but I guess I didn't consider that in a young healthy bitch the opening would already have healed within no times. Still we tried and we can just hope now. She also suggested that Ziva should rest for about 5 days to give the area time to heal as the friction of movement adds to the problem. Ziva is not amused!
Another highlight of my day was seeing Maya and Enya. I had lots of cuddles from both and found myself a little emotional about it all. It's impossible not to love them, even when they are no longer yours!

After the show, to celebrate Bethan's birthday us GSD folk had a lovely meal out. So if you hear a rumor that I was spotted outside a Caernarfon hotel with a man that was not my husband, well yeah it's true .. it was I! lol  A super day really, but I was well and truly knackered last night and just made it to the end of Casualty before collapsing in a heap in my bed with a man that was my husband!!!

Critiques For The Kids

Over the moon with critiques for Sammi and Mikey from Anglesey last week end. Mikey is amused by the fact she's taken 2 years off his age and I'm amused that she says "A handful at times on the move!" She was too polite to say he behaved liked a tit and bounced around like zebedee ... at times!!!

 RBPIS, the 9 month old GSD, Stanley’s Blanik Ivana, who has so much to like about her. She has such a pleasing, well balanced head with such a wonderful alert expression. Well angulated front & rear with absolutely no exaggeration. She holds her shape on the move & powered round the ring. This young lady must also have a very promising future. 

O (3) 1 Stanley’s Blanik Georgios, 4 year old mature male who just exudes quality & has such a well balanced head with a great alert expression, well balanced front & rear with good bone & muscle. Won this very good class on his better front. A handful at times on the move, but when settled had a great action. BOB;

A Super critique from Oswestry show 

1. Stanley's Blanik Georgios ShCm - Strong made middle of the road male in excellent condition. Rich black and gold with dark eye of good shape, ears set good. Good profile. All angles correct. Very good muscle tone throughout. Did so well on the move with excellent forward reach and follow through. Delighted to see him looking sound. BOB and Group 1. - Celia Vines. 

Isn't that great? And so nice to see that she has been consistent in her judging, she judged Mikey as a young dog and loved him then too giving him Reserve Best Male at a breed show. She said at the time he lost out on maturity only. Nice when they put their money where their mouth is!

Poor Ziva

Ending plans for taking her to Anglesey show Ziva whacked her leg (thigh) running round and round the van last Thursday, she took the hair and top layer of skin off. We have been cleaning it daily and it dried beautifully and just looked like a graze. This afternoon it swelled up to about the size of an orange. It was obviously fluid, but it came up so quickly that I felt she need to see a vet. I rang her vets but they "had no available appointments," so I decided to register her at the other vet instead! Anyway the vet drained the lump, OMG the stuff that came out of it! She said it was a mixture of blood and cellular fluid. She can't really say why it came up so long after the original injury but did wonder if someone could have had a nibble? Possible, but we've not seen her bother with it at all really. Anyway antibiotics now and no need to return unless it becomes hot or painful! (Infected)

My head is still completely puddled. It was so easy to say I'd wait till they were 6 weeks before making my mind up, but what do I do in the mean time? I'll tell you what I do, I go through things over and over in my head, I think of the practicalities, I think of everything and anything from where a new puppy would sleep to registered names. The puppies are already registered but as the option may be available to me for a short period I really would like to choose my own name and obviously add my affix!
In the process of finding out what I can and can't do I've discovered that I could have removed the "of Lledfegin" that Gwyn added to Dexi during the short time he was with him. He could have simply been "Blanik Alliance," but without the internet and all this knowledge available at my finger tips in 1996 I was simply not aware of the facts.
I had already chosen a name for Jezi's daughter, she was to be Ettie, so of course I started looking into boys names. I found a few that I quite liked, Lewis really appealed to me but with thought I felt it was too close in sound to Louis, for the same reason I dismissed Kyle, (too close to Kai) another name I really liked. And then I found it ... "Loki." (Louis + Kiri) Hmmm ... but what did it mean?
"Loki -  is the mythical being of mischief in Norse mythology, a foster-brother of Odin. He is a trickster and a malicious figure who is selfish and greedy, although not necessarily evil as he also comes to the help of the gods in numerous occasions. Loki is reported as being a shapeshifter, and with the power of travelling through the air."

Mr Purple - So beautiful 

I bloody love it ... pet name Loki, Registered name "Mischief Maker at Blanik!" Sorted, depending on the KC of course. How could I find out if it was possible? I googled it and found that "Loki Mischief Maker" had been in the film "Thor," not a film I've seen but I wouldn't mind that comparison. I then found a page on the KC website where I could check if a name was available in the breed. Sadly Mischief Maker has already been used, I was disappointed but maybe they would consider it with my affix? (Or Suffix as it has to be as I didn't breed the puppy) I don't know that's something to find out. It would still be my first choice, but I have discovered that "Loki Mischief Maker" has  never been used and I quite liked "Mythical Mischief Maker." Unfortunately with my affix added the second would take it over the 24 letter allowed, so that's out of the window! Of course after saying all of this the breeder and the KC has the right to refuse the change of name.
From the headshots the puppies that stand out a mile for me are orange and purple, with orange just having the edge due to his very dark mask. But of course you can't pick a puppy on a headshot!  I'm going to see them on Sunday, and it just can't come soon enough for me. Now I too understand how long a wait it is for prospective puppy buyers. I'm hoping someone will stand out like Sammi did. I'm hoping a puppy goes ... "look at me." Yeah being honest I really want this puppy, I don't want to have to wait for Jezi next year, but if they don't catch my eye and have show potential then wait I will as it's really important that I don't waste Jezi either. She is a beautifully constructed bitch with a wicked sense of humor who could really give me something special.
And the conclusion ... again there isn't one!!!!!!
