The top photo was taken when Orin was 8 weeks old. The bottom was taken just 5 days ago and it's already looking out of date as the rich tan spreads further along his body and the weight of the new hair along his spine flattens the waves. Since the photo the very obvious silver stripe is now starting to come through behind the shoulder blade. It stands out dramatically at this age but will later blend in more. He is now loosing some of his black forehead but will no doubt hang onto his mask to one degree or another. Remember the dog in the dream had little black on his forehead - but he did have a mask - looking more like Louis and Loki than Nico or Mikey. Of course the end result is something we can not predict ... that is why is's so fascinating, well to me anyway!

I just can't imagine he will have the dark head of Nico, and hope really with his eye colour that he'll end up more the colour of Loki.
But if you really want to see colour changes in a GSD, then observe the drastic changes in a sable! These photos were taken over a 12 month period.
Ross continues to darken with each coat change - wow isn't he wonderful!
