Nico's brother Dino has lost his battle for life this morning. Dino suffered a torsion 2 days ago. His owner was sent away from 2 vets as they already had emergencies on, sadly with a torsion time is of the essence. How ever much we moan about our vets, we have never been turned away. The third vet operated and Dino survived the operation. Sadly this morning Dino took a turn for the worst, his stomach was necrotic and he was taken back into surgery. Though they tried there was basically no healthy tissue left near the oesophagus to stitch it back up after they've removed the bad bits. The tissue was badly brusied and started breaking down, sadly there was no option other than to let Dino go. I'm heartbroken for his young owner, he was her world.
Please if you have a large breed dog, please be aware of torsion and what you may be able to do to reduce the risk of it happening to your dog, and if it did happen don't hesitate for a minute ... Go to the vets instantly.
