Kiri has been on senior food for 4 or 5 years and it's done her proud. To try and get her to eat I've tried several different ones for her over the last few months. Now they are all a no go, and she won't eat tinned dog food either. I guess I'm more concerned because she's always been so bloody greedy... Even when she had a Payo a couple of years ago she was eating ... and of course she ate herself to a full recovery when she had MMM. Due to the degree of pain when eating lots of dogs just starve with MMM... Kiri never once left a crumb.
But she's an old lady now and God only knows what's going on. I guess without knocking her out and doing bloods and X.rays the vet can't really tell us either. At her age it's a big decision whether to put her through that or just carry on the way we are and assess her quality of life daily. No doubts knowing what going on would helps us, but the important question is would it benefit Kiri? If we all had answers what help would it be to her? She's not a two, or even a ten year old she fast approaching 14 and that is a huge consideration.
I spoke to Gill Hubbard earlier, she's told me to double the dose of steroids over the week-end ... well like she said we've got nothing to loose. I've bought fresh fish, fresh mince, tins of spaghetti and sausages in tomato sauce and a whole host of other things to try and persuade her to eat. Gill wants us to phone back on Monday, so over the week -end we have to think long and hard, we have important decisions to make and the most important consideration is, despite our feelings ... Kiri comes first!
