I fear we are running out of borrowed time!

Kiri has been on senior food for 4 or 5 years and it's done her proud. To try and get her to eat I've tried several different ones for her over the last few months. Now they are all a no go, and she won't eat tinned dog food either. I guess I'm more concerned because she's always been so bloody greedy... Even when she had a Payo a couple of years ago she was eating ... and of course she ate herself to a full recovery when she had MMM. Due to the degree of pain when eating lots of dogs just starve with MMM... Kiri never once left a crumb.
But she's an old lady now and God only knows what's going on. I guess without knocking her out and doing bloods and X.rays the vet can't really tell us either. At her age it's a big decision whether to put her through that or just carry on the way we are and assess her quality of life daily. No doubts knowing what going on would helps us, but the important question is would it benefit Kiri? If we all had answers what help would it be to her? She's not a two, or even a ten year old she fast approaching 14 and that is a huge consideration.
I spoke to Gill Hubbard earlier, she's told me to double the dose of steroids over the week-end ... well like she said we've got nothing to loose. I've bought fresh fish, fresh mince, tins of spaghetti and sausages in tomato sauce and a whole host of other things to try and persuade her to eat. Gill wants us to phone back on  Monday, so over the week -end we have to think long and hard, we have important decisions to make and the most important consideration is, despite our feelings ... Kiri comes first!

"H" Girls

Ziva - in full bloom
After a successful week of showing I started thinking about the girls and how different they have become. Ziva still looks so immature in comparison to Jezi, she really is slower maturing, to be honest it seems she's behind all her sisters. From what I know the others all came in season before or around 8 months of age ... but Ziva kept us waiting till she was 11 months to come in season. Most of the other girls are going through, or indeed have been through that drastic junior malt when all the puppy coat is chucked out ... but not Ziva. Whilst Jezi has been looking like an RSPCA case, skinny, no coat and all head with no body, Ziva is still in full bloom. I guess she has it all to come!  Just goes to show how different they can all be in a litter!
A Naked Jezi about to be assessed by the judge

Jezi has changed so much it's unbelievable, from an unpredictable difficult young lady with a worried expression she has become the class clown. It's just so nice to see the spark of fun and mischief in her eye. No longer do we see evil "Jezi" though I'm not naive enough to believe that in the wrong circumstances she could easily be revived! As regards to show potential I still believe Ziva to be the better bitch, though I totally understand why some people prefer Jezi. Seeing Jezi being stood by Paula at the local shows has shown me that I do have two lovely looking bitches. Both have their faults ... but for me I just can't get past Jezi's straight front! Of course the best show bitch is not always the best brood bitch and a lot of thought and consideration will have to go into the next generation of "Blaniks."

Jay

At Home 2004
Krizzie, Louis and Jay
21:5:01-28:8:07
Coincidentally It was the Tuesday after The Flint and Deeside show. Sarah Smith had judged the breed on the Monday, Krizzie had done reasonably well in a strong/largish Open GSD class. The Tuesday morning I got up and knew it had to be that day. My dog was suffering and beyond improvement, my dog was dying and all I could do was make his passing easier....
Today is the Tuseday after Flint and Deeside, Claire Wilson Judged the breed. Krizzie is no longer with us, she was also ripped from our life's during that horrendous year. But her grandson and great granddaughter were flying the flag, making us proud at the show.

Jay in Show stance
Today I can't stop thinking about him again, my baby Jay, My Captain Chaos. Dexi's grandson, Louis' father, Krizzie's best mate and the biggest clown to ever live at Blanik. But I'm not crying, I'm smiling, I'm smiling at the joy he bought into our lives, smiling because I had the pleasure of sharing my life with him, smiling because I knew Baby Jay, Yes I had the pleasure of knowing him and his beautiful son!

Ziva's day

Ziva Wins her First BOB at Anglesey Canine Society
and what pleased me more than anything is that we are still making progress

Daily Post

Woohoo Mikey Mikey your a star!

This ShCM Thing

"A Kennel Club Show Certificate of Merit (ShCM) will be issued on receipt of an application from the Registered owner at the time of qualification, in respect of a dog that has obtained 25 points at General And Group Open Shows. A minimum of five points must be won in Group Competition."

Mikey now has over 4o points but still no ShCM certificate .. as he only has 4 from Group Competition. We simply have very few group shows in North Wales, to be honest I can only think of 3 societies who regularly run their shows on the group system.(with a fourth doing it for the first time this month) So for now that elusive point still escapes us.

Vote For George

Despite the press and their constant criticisms of everything he does, George has a comfortable lead in the Grammy.com pole for the best performances from the Olympic ceremony. He currently has 42% of the votes having gone up from second place with 34% last night. Go on, do it for me ....
Vote For George

A friend Spotted George today in an article about the closing ceremony in a German boulevard paper :) She translated the text:
"He came, sang and mesmerised: George Michael, 49, at his first performance after his life-threatening pneumonia in November. Relaxed, he performed the Mega-Hit "Freedom" - and the new song "White Light" in which he came to terms with his near-death experience. "Tonight you are in the centre of the Universe!", he shouted into the enthusiastic crowd. But in reality, he was their benchmark."

Vet's Tales Again!

Kiri
Yesterday was Louis' check-up day. We also made an appointment to take Kiri as she's not eating well at all these days. We are really quite a concern as she's always been so "foody."  Anyway after a struggle the vet found something rather "yeuk" in the back of her mouth, possibly connected to a tooth, it looked almost like a fungus. Kiri had a dental last year, but obviously at her great age we are expecting to get more and more hic-ups. She's been put on a course of antirobe, a strong antibiotic, and we can only hope for the best!
Me And My Boy - Louis
Louis wrote on his facebook page ... "Rhian Stanley made me go see the doggy doctor again today ... boooo!!! (though I do kind of like it there) They gave me another jimmyjection of vet bee12 (or something) and I did scream! They said no more yellow pils ... yeaaah! But I still have to have the little white thingys. (pred somethingorother!!) Doggy doctor said I don't have to have doggy dinners no more. I can eat fish and mash or chicken with pasta or rice. Sounds good to me!!!"

Secret

I'm really not much good at keeping secrets ... so for now I'm letting the cat half way out of the bag! The "Blanik" show team will soon have a new member. "Nico" will be joining us in just a few weeks. (Sept 9th) To say I'm excited is an understatement. I don't wish to sound secretive but I have to honor a friendship and keep it to myself until everything is set to go!

In his Own Words!

George MichaelGeorge Michael@GeorgeMichael
And I don't regret it. Xxxx
Please join me in telling them to fuck off ! It was my one chance on tv to thank you all for your loyalty and prayers, and I took it. X
Morning everyone! Had a GREAT time at the closing! I hope you are not bothered by the press reports of my scandalous 'promotion' !!!

No White Light?

What is it about the press in this country? Why can George NEVER do anything right? He's getting so much stick for doing "White Light" at the Olympics ... I just can't believe  it. It was am Amazing performance of a great song ......
'However, a spokesman for the singer denied that he had used the ceremony as an opportunity to promote the song.
She said Michael chose White Light because the lyrics address his battle with pneumonia, and he thought the message of overcoming adversity fitted the Olympic theme.

“White Light is about the fact he nearly died last year,” said the spokesman. “It’s the first song he wrote after it all happened and he wanted to perform it for fans as a celebration that he’s alive. It seemed quite appropriate.
“He doesn’t need to plug his new single — it was just nice for him to sing it. It’s a bit of a shame that it’s got this response because he was so excited to perform it.”

Organisers defended the choice of song choice, which they described as a “collaboration” between Michael and Kim Gavin, the artistic director of the closing ceremony. “One of the themes of the ceremony was endurance and
physical endeavour, and Kim decided this song was appropriate,” said a
spokesman. '

Sensitive Litte Soul I am!!!

I know I'm over sensitive. Always have been, it's just a fact of life. There are certain things in life that are precious to me, my husband, my family, friends, my animals, "The" breed and George ... And I must say, not necessarily in that order. I work hard and have a lot of responsibilities, beyond what people will understand. Only those close to me truly know what faces me daily. Hell I'm not complaining, just explaining. I use Facebook to get away from things, to enjoy, help and learn. I don't understand why someone who knows me well and knows what is important in my life would go out directly to hurt me by making negative comments on my facebook page about something that's precious to me. I don't expect anyone to like what I like, I never push anything on anyone. All I ask is that people understand and respect that these thing are precious to me and leave me alone to enjoy them!
The performance in my opinion was amazing, he looked awesome and really gave it his all. But sadly the love an excitement I felt last night has been well and truly dampened by one spiteful persons derogatory comments. Comments I hasten to add which were on a personal nature and had nothing to do with his performance, Indeed made before he even opened his mouth!
I know, walk away, Ignore, be the better man etc ..... but sometimes it really is hard, sometimes it cuts like a knife!

"But I have a question ... A Big Fucking Question!"

To start .... Excuse the profanities, but this lyric out of George's single "True Faith" seemed rather apt!!!
My lovely "Oldies!"
Hope you don't mind, I need to bounce some thoughts about and with one persons brain thoroughly picked, my blog is now as good a place as any!
I hope you understand I'm being sensible not callous, Kiri is over 13 and a half and now and in her twilight years. Louis' been ill for 18 months and now and down to 25kg. He's had every test and treatment they can think of but nothing changes. The only good thing is that mostly he's still seems oblivious to his illness and bounces around like a loony. But seriously, I'm not blinkered I'll be lucky if they both see Xmas. Don't get me wrong I'm not crying in a corner, or wallowing in self pity, I've learnt the hard way to enjoy every moment with them. Though obviously it wouldn't be inhuman of me to admit that I fear what is ahead.
Asha, Ziva, Tali, Jezi and Mikey in the front
I love my "H" litter girls and will do health tests on both shortly. I think Jezi has the better character for the breed, but its six of one and half dozen of the other on conformation and Ziva is by far the better mover. She is also more affectionate, but I fear not as clever as Jezi. But I still think their mum Asha is a better example of the breed than them. I think she's the best bitch that's been at Blanik since Nikki. If you remember Asha had to have a cesarean a year ago and I'm bothered about mating her again as I'm not sure of the risks? Because of the situation at home I can't travel far to use a stud dog. I do like a dog owned by a friend very much, but then I've read some strange comments on PDB (A international dog forum) regarding the ethics of his breeder. Malicious gossip and jealousy? I don't know, but is it a risk worth taking?
Who's this guy anyway?
Then there's Mikey, he looks great. I'd love a puppy out of him, but no one has used him...basically there's no one in this area to use him, and I have his mum, his sister and his nieces! So I started thinking, shall I get a bitch in and hope to mate her to Mikey in the future? I know of two lovely bitches for sale at the moment, but with three oldies here and all the dogs living in the cottage I doubt it's the right time just yet. And bringing a bitch into a pack can be a nightmare!
Kai
Sorry, no, I haven't quite finished! My heart starts racing because someone reputal also has a puppy dog for sale, a pick of litter male that she can't keep ..... But I had hoped when the time was right to have a young male or a puppy from Kai's breeder. Kai was special, I'll never replace him but when you've had something so special it only makes sense to go back to the same kennel. Doesn't it?
I'm not in a postion to do anything just yet, but I am thinking about it. Maybe thinking of the future and the "positive" is helping me face the sadness that is ahead and helping me keep my spirits up during what is without doubt an emotional time in my life.
Of course it has to be one of the options ... an adult bitch, an adult dog, mating Asha or a male puppy.
Oh God What the F**k am I going to do? ... Sit down and get a plan of action!!!
Watch this space!!!

What do you think?
