Somehow He Keeps Going

But I'm not going to bury my head in the sand ...
I'm enjoying every day as much as I can
With Nico and Jezi ...
I'm sure these two give him a boost
And that bloody Banana!

Do You Remember Simba?

Simba - 10.1.96 - 8.12.08
I didn't forget to write this yesterday, he was on my mind for most of the day, but I had to concentrate on the living. At that time it was more important ...
My Ear's broke!
Simba was Nikki's son out of the first litter to Arko Vom Hunhnegrab. He was sold to a family locally and for the first couple of years I guess I thought everything was OK. With lots of kids about Simba seemed to be thriving, but next doors dog was causing him major problems. In an unrelated incident, to be honest I'm not really sure what happened but Simba ended up biting the postman. Along with his owners we took Simba to visit an amazing dog trainer who at the time lived in the area. Les Edwards was THE BEST dog trainer I've ever met. Dogs became putty in his hands and they did mostly anything he wanted! Within Minutes he discovered that Simba was not being walked and being treated like one of the kids in the house. He told the owners you must treat him like a dog, he must have his own space, his own bed and lots more exercise. Unfortunately this didn't happen and Simba was seen tied on a chain in the garden day in day out. I heard second hand that he bit a couple more people and one day when his chain snapped he half killed the dog next door ... the same dog that had been running along the wall barking at him for the past 12 months. That day I had a call from them and got in the car and went to collect Simba and bought him back to Blanik!
On The Mountain
Simba apparently hated men, Steve never found it to be so with him and quickly built a strong bond with the dog. He must have had some puppy memories of me as our bond was instant. He was obedient and fun loving but HATED the postman. For us easily solved .. a post box was fitted on the outside gate. Simba bit once more, a month after I had him back I was walking him in the dark off lead on an industrial estate. A man came out between two lorries, Simba went for him instantly ripping the man sleeve. Being a GSD owner the man was great about it, I would never be so careless again.
I worked hard on Simba and was so proud after just a few months of ring craft to be able to stand him in a ring and let a male judge go over him ... all done with food and trust. (and he wasn't last either) Carrie and I then walked him around the agricultural show, I was never complacent, but he didn't put a foot wrong.
Quite The Old Man
Simba did hate other male dogs, especially Jay and his litter brother Dexi. And he hated small dogs, I could accept that and always had him under control around them at training classes. He learnt to accept the cats, love the bitches, was super with litters of pups and could always be trusted off lead on the mountain.
Following a hematoma later in life one of his ears was tipped. It gave him a funny appearance, but we never laughed at him! (To his face anyway!)
Simba just three when he returned here and was almost 13 when he died. It had been our intention to rehome him, we never did, here he was safe and happy. Here we gave him all we could ... and he taught us some valuable lessons. RIP Dear Simba. You Have Been Loved!

Last Night and This Morning ...

How he looks today
Louis threw up countless times yesterday, but at 8pm ish he ate some fish and potato. Within an hour he threw up again. Fish, potato, stones, cat litter, coal and I'm sure bits of bone (but where did he get it from?) At bed time I offered him a piece of white fish, he ate it and kept it down. This morning, around 7.30am  he's had some more fish and potato ... and so far he has kept it down. He's a tad wobbly and weak, but his eye looks better today than it did last night. He was obviously in a degree of pain yesterday.
Yesterday evening Steve and I had decided that if he was the same today we would have to let him go this morning. Today again we plod on, but with everyday he looks worse, with every missed meal or bout of diarrhea he gets thinner, and I didn't think that was possible!!!
No matter how thin, whilst there's a spark in his eye, a banana's in his mouth (and that was the first thing he got out this morning)  and he "wants" to go for a walk then we go on and sod the comments. We live with him, we know!

Facing Facts

Louis' going down hill so fast, the last few weeks have been nightmarish for us, his "people."...Tonight he's been vomiting something indescribable and disgusting. We both feel he won't make it till Xmas.(But pray that he does!) He's so thin now, thinner than I thought any loved/cared for dog could be. I just feel like things can't go on much longer. I'm heartbroken and can see no way out ...

A Couple of Boys

No one has told Nico and Louis that entire males are not suppose to get on!

Always In My Thoughts

I don't profess to be a poet ... I wish I had half my father's talents.
But again today I find "him" on my mind,
the tears flow and I needed to deal with it somehow!
Today this was the way I found help.
Sorry if it's a bit naff .... but I try.
I miss you Kai
I can't prepare a meal without thinking about you
It was our own personal, private time
No walk to "that" lake is complete without you
Kaiser you should still be in your prime
***
I see you in your daughter's eyes
and feel you in the Winter Sunrise
I hear you in granddaughter's screams
And weep when you break into my dreams
***
Months on and I'm still shattered at the loss
My mind's been left in total chaos
Just a simple poem for my blog
Memories of my big, beautiful, awesome dog!

We Musn't Forget 4/12/09

" target="_blank">
It was the day Jamie arrived and nothing would ever be the same again!
From day one he was a very timid, quiet, stressed out little kitten....NOT!!!!
And yes this video was filmed the evening he arrived.
He truly is a very special "Person!"
He may not have the glamours good looks of Oliver but his personality always shines through ... A cat that knows exactly who he is and what he wants.
A cat with a huge personality, like I have never seen here before.
He's cuddly, affectionate, funny, sadly fearless and oozes charisma. To me no doubts,
This is "The Cat" in my lifetime!

So proud...

...To See Ro and TJ working for their BH at at the BAGSD - Essex Branch.
Keep up the good work Ladies.
I'll let you all know as soon as she passes!

Dear Sir ... if I can call you that!!!!

I'm not going to lower myself to your standards and make rude remarks on someone photo. To be honest, I don't give a flying fuck what you think but she may be hurt by your unnecessary comments; so I've deleted your post. On my page I have every right to do just that and on my blog I have every right to rant ... and rant I will!
I come across you occasionally in my life, and despite all I know I guess I quite like you. We have very strong differences of opinions, but I have admired you at your age for putting yourself in the position your in. Despite what you say you had choices, and you followed, as I see it, the hardest but most selfless route.
But still I find you infuriating at times, my advice to you would be to take a step back and leave me and my friends alone to love our "Wrinkled old junkie!" (By the way ... look in the mirror ... do it now and see what I see when I look at you!!!! PMSL)
I've seen "The Man" as close as I've seen you. I've seen the eyes beyond the glasses, the colour of his skin, the hair on the back of his hands. I've seen as much of him as I have of you, but studied him much more carefully. God knows I know which one I'd prefer to see on the pillow next to me in the morning ... and because I know your mentality, NO,  It's NOT you!
Now go and get your show dogs out of their kennels, take them for a walk, you know one foot in front of the other. Let them know the meaning of fun, let them get dirty and wet and then let them into your home and your heart!

Danni and Rudolph

Love these photos of miss Puddle Duck that are on Facebook. She really looks to have filled out a treat ... can't wait to see her next year :) Thanks to owner Linda for sharing these, I can't tell you how it feels to see them. Lots of mixed emotions, We still miss her so much, but love the fact she's so loved and obviously so happy.

"If anyone doesn't get a present from Santa this year it's because Danni ate Rudolph."
