Well yeah of course we do, and it's probably quite insulting to a dog who can smell you from the other side of a football field. Though I do wonder why Loki can't find his toy in an area the size of a postage stamp!
Body signals are so important when meeting dogs, Caesar's words still echo in my ears, no touch, no talk, no eye contact, it's far better to let a dog introduce themselves to you, and only then if they chose to do so. Be confident and calm, if you show any signs of fear then expect the dog to feel as uncomfortable about that as you do!
