Storm and Simba
Pet dog or show dog they all have heart
and you as a breeder were there at the start.
Whilst breeding for excellence,
let's not forget
those who don't make it,
which go as a pet.
Happy were you when they were born
When cash flowed in, keeping finances norm.
Should a time come when their need is great
welcome them home, don't first bolt the gate.
Some will take back when a mistake was made
if the rescue is better than those they parade.
We all like to boast of wins we have had,
so why not of rehomes and feel equally glad.
How can you see one you have bred
not properly settled in a comfortable bed?
Don't turn your back or ignore the phone
there'd be no need for rescue if we all did our own.
Rescue your own and do have a care,
help ease the burden on Shepherd Welfare.
The Feeling that's needed - let's make it a creed,
IF YOU CAN'T DO THE RESCUE
WHY THE
HELL DID YOU BREED?

I tried to post this poem on a GSD group earlier today. My post was declined as it could cause "Trouble." Now it's been shared on Facebook. Glad the message is still getting out there, but feeling a little 😕 about it. Here's hoping I remembered it correctly, eh!
