Vets And Gyrn Goch

It really mixed feeling when your bitch walks happily away with the vet leaving you standing in the car park! Oh Ok then, bye Ziva, you go with Beth, see you later. Still I was pleased to know she'd been a star, and that they had been able to handle and examine her with no difficulties. She's passed her MOT which she wasn't expecting to get and had some surolan for her sore ear. She weighs 31.6kg which is ideal, last time apparently she was 32kg and that was 3 years ago. Baby O also got weighed for his 8 month weigh in.

We finished our trip out with a lovely soggy walk in Gyrn Goch. I swear I had never seen it like this before, the water running through the pipes and onto the footpath. I wonder who's bright idea that was? I never know whether the running water in the forest would be classed as a stream or a small river, well today it was a raging torrent. I even put Orin on the lead to keep him away from it. He was desperate to jump in as usual but it really wasn't safe! I was drenched when I got home, my old yellow coat now out of retirement did its best, but sadly it wasn't good enough. Thankfully by the time I was taking the others out the wind and rain had eased ... I say thankfully cos the barbour coat leaks like a fecking basket! Hopefully Mum is having some success fixing the coat that Nico damaged. 

Orin is 8 Months

Well the K kids are 8 months old tomorrow, wow where did that time go? Sammi is now over her slight phantom pregnancy and is craving the attention of her son again. Fun and games in the living room, lol. 

Orin is now 64cms, which surprised me as I could have sworn he was 63cms last week. He's the same height as Ross was at the same age, Loki was marginally taller at 65cms. Orin weighs 33kg which looks about right for his height and build. (Ross was 34.1kg and Loki was 33kg) Though he has great bone and substance he still looks very much the baby that he is. He needs to lengthen as he matures.  His coat and colour,(he is a redder tan than he appears in the photo) give him so much glamour, he sure is going be a handsome male. 

Only Short Walks

When I struggled to wake up this morning I knew it was going to be a difficult morning. I don't know whether having an extra couple of hours in bed would help, I've never tried it and anyway it simply isn't possible. I got everyone fed and watered and set about doing some cleaning but within about 30 mins I grinded to a halt. We had a cup of tea and I took some pills. Following some tears and self-pity I went under the blanket on the sofa with Choo. I didn't sleep but I did rest and relax a little. For part of the time Sammi was playing rather loudly with her precious Orin, and Asha kept coming over to poke me to make sure I knew that by now we really should be out walking. Steve tried to convince me not to go, but experience tells me that after the break I can go and I'll probably feel better for it. Equally, I know not to drive and not to push it too far so three short walks around the block kept man and beast happy! 

As I was doing short walks I decided to take Orin twice. I also reintroduced Loki to the pack and today it was successful enough for him to join us in the living room for the afternoon. Afternoons are such a quiet time here, every one is relaxed and happy until about 4 ish when they start to think of their empty bellies! It's great to have everyone back together, now the waiting, hoping and praying begins ...

The littlechap is around 4 months now I guess. In about 3 weeks I'll start watching for his canines coming through, they come through at 5 months so that will give me a close estimate of his birthday. "The kitten's adult canine come through at 149 - 153 days"

It may look a happy photo but it wasn't the best of walks. It was Loki's first time out with Kaiah since the end of her season, and he didn't take the hint. The others have been with her since  Thursday but today with Loki we very stressful.  Kaiah told him over and over but still he tried his lucky, would you believe all 30kg of her managed to floor his 40kg?... But he still didn't get it so it's separate rooms again, I'll try again tomorrow!

Blanik Deeanna

The beautiful Krizzie has met me in my dreams the last 2 nights. It was wonderful to see her so clearly again and I woke up feeling blessed to have spent time with her. Krizzie was Seffe's daughter, in the bitch line she was Tali's mum, but she was also Louis' mum. A wonderful exuberant young lady who gave so much of herself and who broke our hearts when she left us so young. Krizzie sadly was the only Blanik bitch to not make it to double figures. We were cheated of her twilight years, time that we should have spent together, but today at least I'm given comfort from my dreams and my memory. I always see Krizzie now with a smile instead of a tear. 

Vaccinations

The question of the week has to be, will you have the Covid 19 Vacs? I will. By the time I get it I'll see whether it's had any side effects on Steve ...lol 

Sometimes I seriously get my knickers in knot on these dog pages on Facebook. People are asking for advice, they are given the best advice from experienced breeders, but then they take no notice and do their own thing, often to the detriment of the dog. 

People are still over vaccinating their dogs. You may recall I even broke onto the Nobivac website earlier in the year to get proof that all these vaccinations are not necessary. When I say I broke in, it asked if I was a veterinary professional before letting me in, I lied! Well what's the worst that could happen? My laptop didn't explode and I haven't been arrested!!  I found the page I was looking for and made a screenshot of it. It can't be any clearer, one vaccination over 10 weeks is all that is required and Nobivac recommend vets booster the dogs in three years. To be honest I don't do that booster either, but that is my choice. So why, WHY are people still taking their dogs for yearly boosters and why are vets still promoting these vaccinations? I understand maybe Jo Bloggs and his mate wouldn't know, but vets do, so why pump chemicals into the dogs when it's not needed or necessary? Particularly with L4 the risks are greater than the benefits. One of the replies was that boarding kennels require an up-to-date vaccination certificate, fair enough .. up-to-date with a three year booster as recommended by the manufacturers. Alternatively, don't put your dogs in kennels and bring it with you to Snowdonia for a holiday! You made a life choice to get a dog, so live with it. 

When I informed my vet that I was not vaccinating the last litter before selling them they did initially seem taken aback, but when I took Orin for his one and only vaccination at 11 weeks old the vet reminded me that he didn't need a second vacs or a booster for three years. I feel that they knew I had done my homework, such a shame they vaccinated one of the sisters the day after she left and three weeks later, and that they did not inform the owner that she didn't need to go back for three years! Hmm to be fair they saw a different vet, but the same practice should be giving out the same information. Rant over, Nos da 

   

Youngsters

Orin is now heading for 8 months old. He's such an attractive boy, but still very much a baby. When they are almost adult size we do sometimes forget that they are just basically big babies. He currently stands at 63cms at the wither, but I've no idea what he weighs. I hope he grows just another CM or two, but if he doesn't, well I can live with that! After seeing his father recently I see a lot of him there, in the general construction, colour and maybe a little of the attitude too. Though living with these there is no doubt Kaiah and Ross' live life to the full attitude is rubbing off on him. 

Ross is a dream, I'm not talking about the show dog, he lacks the X factor in the show ring but buying him was one of my better decisions, he is the entertainer, he's just an adorable clown. Kaiah is without doubt a little hard knock, the little lady with the big personality. She loves people, she's so obedient and affectionate but without doubt she's in charge of the boys here. Seeing here stopping them and keeping them from moving forward is amazing, yes a game, but a game of life's lessons, one that does show her true strength of character. 

I always have to watch the bitches together, I never let a stare or a raised tail go unnoticed. A word or two from me is usually enough, but with bitches living together you should always be very aware of body signals and never let a cross word between them go unchecked. Kaiah is a dominant female and without doubt believes her place should be at the very top of the Blanik ladder. Sammi has let her move up over her, Asha doesn't give a shit and ignores her, but Ziva is up for the challenge. Funny that Kaiah and Ziva have a very similar relationship to the one Ziva had with her own grandmother, Tali. Don't get me wrong they are alright together, but when the hormones are raging, you watch them!

I can hear Kaiah screaming "She said Wait you bloody idiot, now we'll have to do it again!"

He's off after Ross who also forgot to wait! LOL
