4 Months Weights And Measures

Well Miss Beti weighs 17.5kg and thankfully is 48.5 - 49cms - and breath. Of course bitches grow differently and the adult height could still be anyone's game. This is not scientific, just interesting, but to date the smallest Blanik bitch at this age is the smallest adult and vice versa. I will list the previous bitches results here, it always helps me when things are kept together.

Siska was 15.8 kg and 46.5cms. Adult Height - 58cms (5 months 19.6 kg - 52cms)
Kaiah was 17kg and 49cm. Adult Height - 60cms (5 months 21.25kg - 53.5cms)
Sammi was 18.40kg and 50cms. Adult Height - 62cms (5 months 20.80kg 54.5cms)

Day 1

Finally, Siska is in season - it's 8 months since her last one. We have a week or so now before the fun begins!

Despite The Weather ..

... we got out this afternoon.

Beti Is 4 months Tomorrow

This photo was taken a couple of days ago. I think she's looking great, totally unexaggerated and balanced - as I like them. Her pasterns, front and back, need to strengthen, as I'm sure they will. On the move at the moment she looks like a hare, but as I've seen most of them go through that stage, I'm not really concerned. Normal structural development and muscle should improve that as she matures. Her overline is pleasing in stance and on the move, and so far she carries her tail as she should. Her ear set is correct, and they are strong and firm, her head is feminine with dark eyes. Obviously, it's too early to see if her dentition is correct, we can only hope! She has strong straight bones and so far better feet than Auntie Siska. Her coat and colour are also promising, if she does hang onto her waves, well It's not much to worry about, especially as they are on the opposite side to where a judge will look. Anyway, if that is my only negative in the adult, well I'll be laughing! I would like to see a little more co-ordination in her movement, and a little more forward reach - will it come? Time will tell ... but at the moment, yeah I'm happy that she is constructionally pleasing and very father typical! (as you can see below)
Orin a week short of 4 months - he seems to have a little less coat than Beti, but his coat really developed before 5 months, and the bottom photo was taken 10 days after he was 4 months.

My Orin

Isn't he just stunning! That to me is what a male GSD should look like. There is no questioning his sex. His head is correct, masculine, powerful and glamorous, yes his eyes could be darker, yes his lip could be tighter .... but that is nitpicking. He is a very very special boy, no doubts he was pick of the males in that litter, and despite the continued unnecessary favouritism elsewhere on Facebook, he still is!
These photos were obviously taken yesterday - today is less than gloomy out there!

Sunny Afternoon

Progress

After a morning of wind and rain we spent the afternoon out in the sunshine. Dogs out then a builders assistant. I have to admit I called it a day, bloody hell those mats were difficult to manoeuvrer, now I need a bath and a massage. Oh well I'll have to settle for a shower and a hot water bottle!
The area is 17ft x 11.7 ft  and the mats 6 x 4ft - so now it's just getting the best fit but we can see the potential.

Training

A couple of snaps from Ring Craft last night. Yes, she had a wonderful time and was full of exuberance and fun. The biting (of my legs on the move) really needs addressing, but I think we moved a step forward last night, the other big problem is getting her to stand and work for someone else - she screamed the house down when Ian tried, and he's her friend!

The Pups

There was some sad news yesterday, Sky lost two of the male puppies. It doesn't help anyone to say, it happens, god knows we know it does, but it's always heartbreaking. Here's hoping the three boys and three girls left continue to thrive now.

Am I Just Getting Old ..

... Or is this puppy mental? Honest to god, she is like a whirlwind, how she hasn't broken herself by now is beyond me. Orin and Siska were never this OTT, Ross was, but that's a different story. Everything is done at full speed (Apart from eating!) and she throws herself on and off furniture, you always advise people to not let them jump at this age .. well try bloody stopping her!
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it's just observations. Beti is extremely affectionate, mostly pretty obedient and just so much fun. She's looking great, very "Father Typical" so hopefully not overdone in any way, as is my preference. I've looked back at photos of Orin and Sammi at the same age and the resemblance is unquestionable. I didn't remember that Orin had lightened so much on the forehead and darkened again, but the proof is in the pudding, or the photo as the case may be! She also seems to be getting his thick, glamorous coat, (with the odd wave) but she does seem to have better eye colour. If I end up with a feminine version of daddy I'll be very happy indeed!
