One of my favourite songs ever...

Sunny Sunday

Kiri and Kai
Louis, Asha, Mikey, Tali and Finlay in the front
All I can say is thank God for the breeze today, or I guess I would have melted in a corner somewhere. The Dogs loved the ditches and puddles, at least they had a great way of keeping cool...I declined the offer to join them! To be honest it was still quite dull when we set off on the first walk, hence the gray sky, but by the time Kiri and Kai where going out someone really had turned the heating up!
More photos now going on flicker!

Bless her little cotton socks - look at her go!

Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

The 13th Annual White Tie & Tiara Ball

God what I would have given to have been there last night, well to see this performance anyway!

".....George Michael announced he will be playing a charity concert in London this November, in aid of the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Sir Elton said: ‘George has been a patron of the Foundation since its inception and has been a much valued supporter over the years, as well as a dear friend.’

‘This is an incredible and generous gesture. I thank George from my heart for doing this. His is an amazing talent, and this is a fantastic gift he is making to people affected by HIV.’
The pair became close in the 1980s and famously sang Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me together at Live Aid in 1985. It was then a No1 for the pair in 1991 when it was released in aid of charity."

Dexi 10/1/96- 24/6/07

Please don't think I'm being morbid or dwelling on the past. Four years on and I'm not lying on the sofa crying for my loss, I've moved on. But we can't, we musn't forget the ones we have loved and lost, the ones who gave us their all.
To us Dexi may have been a big, goofy, clumsy eating machine. A couch potato who hated the wind and rain but loved to be cuddled and pampered. But to others Dexi was a top show dog of his day, his achievements have never been equalled in this house and were only matched at that time by his litter sister "Aria." Dexi was the sire of top winning Nordau Krystal, and we are lucky to still have her litter sister Kiri here with us today. Dexi was also Jay's grandfather and therefore great grandfather to my lovely Louis. For this alone we owe him so much...
Dexi, I'm still proud to say, I bred you; I owned you; I showed you; but more than anything else I loved/love you...
Till we meet again Blanik Alliance .... Rest In Peace My Sexy Dexi!

Be Prepared!

Louis' causing more unrest at the moment. Since the little shit won't eat yogurt now, (or anything with tree barks powder in it), I'll have to think of something else to help with the good bacteria in his digestive system.(Probiotics from the Health food shop maybe?!) He is still on Beta Senior with tinned chappie; how I wish he would have stuck to the GSD24, he did so well on that. But when Louis says "Yeuk...I'm not eating that!" He means it! I'm still adding lypex to his meals, and hoping it helps, too scared to try it without to be honest. The vet has decided to put him back on oxycare but only for a 2 week course this time. I must say, the weight has dropped off him again and sadly he looks awful, pretty much how he looked over Xmas and New Year...though he's still full of beans of course!!!

Home At Last

Poor Kiri Mac isn't half going through it this year. In February she had an operation to removed 3 large bits of plastic toy for her stomach, now in June 12 and a half year old Kiri has had to have another operation. This time she's had  3 teeth removed and a huge puss filled cavity cleaned out. The vet agrees that the medication she's been on since she was diagnosed with MMM in 2003 may well have contributed to her rotting teeth. (I've never had a dog with bad teeth before)Still this medication was needed and has kept her in good health for all these years.
The lump that Kiri had on the top of her shoulder had been there for about a couple of years. The vet regularly emptied it and cleaned it for her. After another vet attempted to do the same thing the lump started to look very angry, so it was decided that since she would be out for the count having her dental, the lump could be removed as well. We were extremely shocked to find such a huge scar, but the lump which to the eye was no bigger than a 50p was apparently very deep rooted.
Tomorrow Kiri will be going to the job centre to see if she can find a seasonal job to pay off her second vet bill of over £600 this year!!!

Damned if I do....Damned if I Don't?

...Kiri was crying in pain with her face this morning. The Vets have decided to keep her in, they will knock her out to find out what's going on. We know her teeth are awful and they are probably going to do a dental. No choice really, but we are both so scared of the side affects as she 12 and a half now.  But at the end of the day, she's in pain and we need to do what's best for her in the long run. For the second time this year, I hope she has the strength to pull through....

Update -5pm
Kiri's just coming around. She's had 3 teeth removed, and there was a lot of pus in her jaw. They also removed the lump on her side which they are confident is nothing to worry about. We can phone back at 6.30pm but they doubt she'll be coming home tonight!

No Bears In The Woods...but..

If you go down to the woods today, You're sure of a big surprise
If you go down to the woods today, You'd better go in disguise
For Kaiser bear and Kiri McTav, Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the GSD's have their picnic
Kaiser Bear who's been good, Is sure of a treat today.
There's lots of marvellous things for Kiri to eat, And wonderful games for Kai to play
Beneath the trees where nobody sees, They'll hide and seek as long as they please
'If you go down to the woods today, You'd better not go alone
It's lovely down in the woods today, But safer to stay at home.
For Kaiser bear and Kiri McTav, Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the GSD's have their picnic.

Nobody Told Me There'd Be Days Like These....

Today my little man hasn't been feeling his best. I was very disappointed to find out on Monday that he had again lost 2kg, and to be honest he hasn't had a great week. Today the diarrhea was back was a vengence and he was clearly out of sorts this morning. After another emotional call to his long suffering Vet, Louis has been put back on Oxycare and will have to visit her on Monday. I'm still hopeful that circumstances at home these last few weeks haven't helped. Surely his stress levels have been out of the window... anyway with things now back to normal I pray Louis will again return to an even keel. There was one thing I could think of doing to please him today ... buy him a brand new bally-thing. As you can see he LOVES it. I know its pink, but it's covered in stars, very apt as he has always been the STAR that shone the brightest in my life....not sure he should sleep with it in his mouth though!

"Tell me, I think that cupid was in disguise
The day you walked in and changed my life
I think it's amazing,
the way that love can set you free.
So now I walk in the midday sun
I never thought that my savior would come
I think it's amazing
I think YOUR AMAZING
(George Michael)

I wish you .... Toothache!!!

Sadly George had to cancel from "The Keep A Child Alive" Charity concert this week. He had talked since the week-end on twitter about the painful infection in his mouth, stating that his face was very swollen and he was experiencing toothache.
But Alicia Keys who was organising the event took umbrage and made a rather inappropriate remark on stage ... "I'm very disappointed that George Michael bailed on us. I think he said he had trouble parking or something." Ok I guess George would have seen the funny side of that, if anyone can laugh at himself, George can. But "Bailed on  Us?" I Think not! Still I was willing to accept that maybe the remark was only an unfortunate turn of phrase on her behalf, well until I read her rant on twitter anyway!!!
Knowing George is a huge philanthropist, (within recent years the only celebrity contributed more to charity than George is Elton John), Alicia has managed to make herself  look foolish and cause a huge amount of backlash. Even on her own site there has been a negative reaction when she publicly twittered last night, "But one question, what kind of person bails on 15million orphans? ......GEORGE MICHAEL." Now that is clearly below the belt, absolutely uncalled for...actually in my opinion she's a disgrace for printing this on a public site! I can understand her disappointment that George was unable to perform, but a private conversation between them should have taken place and not a post on twitter. To be honest she shows a total lack of compassion towards a fellow human being, who was obviously upset enough about missing the concert as it was! Though her post was later deleted, it was too late as fans and press had already read it and shared it all over the Internet.
I guess Alicia has never experience sever dental pain, speaking from experience I can honestly say that it is the worse pain I have ever felt. I really was climbing the walls and could have easily bashed my head against the nearest wall....and no, I'm not exaggerating. Honestly, for me it was the worst pain in the world  and to quote a fellow GMF member. " I've given birth to three children, I have broken bones in my body. Absolutely NOTHING has come close to pain I have experienced with teeth. I wish George a quick recovery. I know first hand how absolutely MISERABLE tooth pain is "
Not that I'm one to hold a grudge, I'm a nice girl really,  but.. Alicia, I now wish you a sever bout of toothache!!! .

Glynllifon Companion show

I was really proud That Mikey Mikey won his Working and Pastoral class and was then judged Reserve Best In Show at Glynllifon Dog Show today. Considering he's really chucking his coat the boy did good!!. (and I love this pic!)
Finlay also enjoyed his day and he was 3rd in The Best Rescue Class and 4th in  the Veteran Class. " Tell the judge woman how I was almost a dead man and got beaten, and starved and things and things...then we can win some sweeties!"

Just Me And My Dog

Due to "Special" circumstances I had to spilt the kids into three groups to walk them today. Having walked them in two groups of three I only had Kai left to walk so I decided to take him somewhere special. Since the "staff attack" I haven't been back to his favourite place, Cwm Dulyn, but I've promised I will return there with him someday soon. Anyway a couple of photos of my beautiful big bear dog in a beautiful place.....(will post the others on flicker!)

Pensioner's Puddle!

                               Louis, Kiri and Finlay

Well what can I say? The three oldest dogs in the house find the dirtiest puddle and come home in the worst state! But really when they had a great time, who cares? Nothing that a good old rub down with a towel can't fix!!!
